“Krzywy Las”

The Krzywy Las (Crooked Forest) is one of Poland’s most surreal natural landmarks. Located in Nowe Czarnowo, near the town of Gryfino in West Pomerania, it consists of a grove of about 400 Scots pines that all share a nearly identical, haunting curve.

🌲 The Anatomy of the Mystery

What makes these trees unique isn’t just the bend, but the uniformity of it:

  • The Shape: Each tree curves 90 degrees northward at the base, traveling horizontally for roughly 3 to 9 feet before sweeping back upward to grow vertically.

  • The Age: They were planted around 1930, when the area was part of the German province of Pomerania.

  • The Orientation: Every single tree in the grove faces due North.

🧐 Leading Theories

While nature often produces oddities, the perfection of the Crooked Forest suggests human hands were involved.
