Preparation:

1. The cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (gas mark 6).
2. Whisk the eggs and sugar until the mixture whitens and doubles in volume. 3. Add the flour sifted with the baking powder.
4. Then stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla extract, mixing gently.
5. Pour the batter into two identical pans (or a tall pan and cut into two or three discs after baking).
6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
7. Let cool completely.

2. Whipped cream:
1. Whip the very cold cream until stiff.
2. Gradually add the icing sugar while continuing to whisk.
3. Refrigerate.
